If you decide to buy an iPad Pro, it may come with a slight bend in the metal casing, whether you like it or not.
On Wednesday, Apple reportedly said that some units of the 2018 iPad Pro may ship with a curve in the aluminum chassis. But it isn't a defect, at least according to the company.
Apple told The Verge that the minor bend is due to a cooling process involving the iPad Pro's metal and plastic components when the hardware is being manufactured. However, the company says the slightly warped chassis won't affect the iPad's performance.
The news comes as some iPad Pro customers have been complaining that their devices came sold with a minor curve in the aluminum casing. As proof, people have been posting photos of their bent iPads over on social media and on MacRumor's forum.

"I've treated this thing like a baby, never in a bag, carried everywhere, and keyboard case from day 1," wrote one customer who reported later noticing the iPad's bent casing.
It isn't clear if Apple's going to reverse course and offer free refunds for anyone who owns an iPad with a bend. The company didn't immediately respond to a request for a comment. But no customer is probably going to be happy with a slightly warped iPad Pro. The 11-inch device starts at $799, while the 12.9-inch model can go for $999 and up.
Still, if your iPad Pro does sport a bend, you can exchange it or get a refund from Apple within the 14-day return window. According to The Verge, the problem appears to be more prevalent among LTE models of the device due to a plastic strip on the aluminum sides.
