Yahoo announced Monday that an animated sci-fi show developed by Tom Hanks will be its first original scripted series.
"Electric City" will feature Hanks as a voice actor and be accompanied by interactive elements such as maps and games, The Wrap reported. It is set to premiere on Yahoo in the spring.
The series' 20 episodes, each three to four minutes in length, will tackle "relevant global issues and themes including energy consumption, freedom of information, crime and punishment and more" in a post-apocalyptic world, Yahoo said in a press release.
The tech giant currently streams original reality shows, including the celebrity gossip series "omg! NOW" and "Free Love Advice" starring actress and former "Dancing with the Stars" contestant Niecy Nash.
