Every TV show and movie contains memorable scenes, some of which you wouldn't mind experiencing more than once. Netflix realizes this and is currently testing a new instant replay feature for the streaming service.
As the Los Angeles Times reports, Netflix is identifying key scenes within movies and TV shows and adding an instant replay option for them. Viewers see a pop-up appear on the screen as one of these scenes ends, allowing a button click or screen tap to play the whole scene over again. Scott Renshaw, who's experienced the feature (and doesn't like it) confirmed that the words popping up on screen read "Watch this scene again."
A Netflix spokesperson explained, "We're trying out a feature which gives Netflix members the ability to rewatch favorite scenes and memorable moments with the click of a button. Right now we're just looking to learn from it and may or may not roll it out more broadly in the future."
While some viewers may love this idea, I suspect the majority won't mainly because it requires a pop-up appearing on the screen every time a scene replay is available. TV and movie content is created to be watched uninterrupted, and this feature disrupts that. However, offering scene replays through the Netflix main menu instead would certainly be acceptable. Offering scene replays when you pause streaming could also work well.

If this feature does end up rolling out with pop-up activation, then at the very least the option to disable it must be available.
