NEW YORK – Amazon is launching a subscription service for games, videos and books aimed at kids using its Kindle Fire tablet devices.
Amazon.com Inc. is announcing Wednesday that the service, Kindle FreeTime Unlimited, will be available in the next couple of weeks.
Parents can set up profiles for each child so that kids can browse age-appropriate videos, games and books without being shown ads or accessing the Internet.
It'll cost $4.99 per child each month, though members of Amazon Prime, the company's premium shipping service, can get it for $2.99. Amazon Prime costs $79 per year for free shipping of merchandise bought in the company's online store.
Family plans for up to six kids will cost $9.99, or $6.99 for Prime members.
