LOS ANGELES – The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced Tuesday that the Primetime Emmy Awards, scheduled for September 16, have been postponed. The 53rd annual show was to be held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
The Emmys were postponed in reaction to the terrorist attacks launched against the United States. In coordinated attacks on New York City and Washington, D.C., hijacked airliners crashed into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and into a rural field in Pennsylvania.
