A quick trip around Hannity's America...
Fidel for Obama?
President Obama has acquired a new and unexpected ally. Cuba's ex-president Fidel Castro is sticking up for Obama, blaming the right wing for sabotaging the president's agenda!
In a recent column in Cuba's state-run newspaper, the former communist dictator argued that, "The extreme right hates him for being African-American and fights what the president does to improve the deteriorated image of that country."
He went on to say that, "I don't have the slightest doubt that the racist right will do everything possible to wear him down, blocking his program to get him out of the game, one way or the other."
Is it just me or does Fidel Castro sound like some Democrats in this country?
Bonus Bucks
The Democratic leadership of the U.S. House of Representatives is proving yet again just how tone-deaf they are.
According to The Washington Times, Speaker Pelosi and her friends have now made it possible for top congressional aides to receive bonuses! The change will allow House employees earning over $160,000 to be eligible for government-funded subsidies to pay for outstanding student loans. This year alone it will cost you the taxpayer $12.6 million.
So now we're going to pay off student loans for government employees making well over six figures? What's next?
I have an idea: Maybe Congressman Rangel can help pay for these bonuses, because the New York Post reports that he recently uncovered up to $780,000 in additional assets.
Rangel submitted the revised financial disclosure forms earlier this month that virtually doubles his net worth. These are just a few of the assets that Rangel magically forgot to disclose:
• Checking account up to $500,000
• ING account up to $100,000
• PepsiCo Inc. shares up to $50,000
• Merrill Lynch account up to $50,000
• N.J. property up to $150,000
A checking account containing as much as a half a million dollars?
By the way, this is coming from the chairman of the committee that writes our tax code. That's comforting.
If Charlie Rangel and tax cheat Tim Geithner go out to lunch together, who picks up the bill?
Reality Check
We reported live from Howard Dean's town hall meeting Tuesday night. With more than 3,000 people in attendance, the governor took the opportunity to spread the president's health care gospel.
It's too bad he forgot to get his facts straight before he started talking. Let's take a look:
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
HOWARD DEAN, DNC CHAIRMAN: The system in Britain was actually put in by one of the most conservative prime ministers in Britain's history, Winston Churchill.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
Actually, Howard, the U.K.'s National Health Service was founded in 1948 when Clement Attlee — not Winston Churchill — was the prime minister of Great Britain.
But hey, I know you'd never want to let the facts get in the way of your liberal arguments.
Care for Illegals?
The president has repeatedly accused his opponents of paddling falsehoods in the health care debate. One of them, he said, is that illegal immigrants will be covered by the bill.
The Washington Examiner notes that according to the Congressional Research Service, the critics are right! The bill "does not contain any restrictions on non-citizens — whether legally or illegally present."
Hey, Mr. President, maybe you should stop pedaling falsehoods!
