#3 Nissan Frontier

The Nissan Frontier isn't exactly a powerhouse, but it sure is spunky.

Despite having a 2.5 liter 4-cylinder that makes just 152 horsepower and 171 lb-ft of torque, Nissan's little truck can tow the biggest trailer on our list, 3,500 pounds.

But don't plan on bringing much else along inside the truck itself, the base SE model can only handle a payload of 970 pounds. Jam 5 of your friends on board and that limit comes up really fast.

At 19 mpg city/23 highway at least you'll be able to carry it further for the money.
