TORONTO (AP) — Toronto FC extended its unbeaten streak to five games after a 0-0 draw against the Kansas City Wizards on Saturday.
Toronto (5-4-2) missed a chance to move ahead of the second-place New York Red Bulls in the Eastern Conference. The Wizards (2-5-3) stretched their winless streak to eight games.
Both teams were sloppy at the start, with missed passes and weak tackling the norm early on.
It was also a chippy affair. Toronto defender Nick Garcia received a red card in the 27th minute after a collision with Wizards forward Kei Kamara near midfield. Garcia raised his foot as he lunged for the ball and caught Kamara in the upper thigh.
The Wizards were without captain Davy Arnaud, who was suspended for the game after picking up two yellow cards in last Sunday's loss to Real Salt Lake.
