YPSILANTI, Mich. – Karrington Ward scored 14 points and Eastern Michigan's defense shut down Rochester College on Wednesday for a 68-35 win.
The Eagles (6-0) limited the NAIA Warriors (5-4) to 22.4 percent shooting, including 2 of 17 (12 percent) from 3-point range, and forced 21 turnovers.
Eastern Michigan also had a big advantage inside, out-rebounding Rochester 47-37, with 20 on the offensive end. Raven Lee had seven rebounds to go with his seven points and reserve Brandon Nazione had seven boards and nine points.
The Eagles also got to the line 32 times, good for 23 points, while the Warriors were 11 of 18.
After Rochester scored the first two points of the game, Eastern Michigan reeled off 16 straight, pushing the score to 42-15 at the half.
Mike Talley came off the bench to add 11 points for Eastern Michigan.
