GREEN BAY, Wis. – Veteran kicker Ryan Longwell says it's great to retire as a Green Bay Packer.
Longwell was back in Green Bay on Tuesday to officially call it a career. He scored 1,054 points during his nine seasons in Green Bay (1997-2005) and holds franchise records in field goals made (226) and field-goal percentage (81.6).
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (http://bit.ly/19quWB4 ) reports Longwell said there wasn't much question he would retire in the same place he started. He says he's "proud of what I accomplished here" and "was blessed to live the Packers experience for nine years."
Longwell played his final six seasons with the Minnesota Vikings.
Asked if he would ever kick in the NFL again, Longwell, who turns 39 on Friday, answered: "I'm done. I'm done kicking."
