Bucaramanga, Colombia (SportsNetwork.com) - David Vanegas closed with a 2- under 68 on Sunday and cruised to a 3-stroke win at the Colombian Open.
Vanegas, who won for the first time on the PGA Tour Latinoamerica, ended at 17-under-par 263 at Ruitoque Golf & Country Club.
The 27-year-old Colombian tripped to a bogey on the second, but came back with birdies at four and five. After a birdie on the par-5 ninth, Vanegas faltered to bogeys on the 10th and 12th to drop to 15-under.
Vanegas, who led after 54 holes thanks to a third-round 61, made eagle on the par-4 14th to jump back to 17-under. He traded a bogey for a birdie from the 16th, then closed with a par at the last to seal the win.
Andres Echavarria fired a 7-under 63 to end at minus-14. Rick Cochran III joined him there with a closing 69.
Jordan Russell (64), Daniel Mazziotta (67), Jose Manuel Garrido (67), Nelson Ledesma (68) and Manuel Merizalde (70) shared fourth at 13-under 267.
