NEW YORK (Reuters) - Left-hander Francisco Liriano will pitch the opening game of the playoffs for the Minnesota Twins next month, the Major League Baseball team said on Wednesday.
Liriano (14-8), who leads all Minnesota pitchers with the lowest ERA and most strikeouts, will be followed by Carl Pavano (17-11) in Game Two and Brian Duensing (10-2) in Game Three, Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said in a report on the team's website (http://minnesota.twins.mlb.com).
The division series are scheduled to start October 6.
