HUNTSVILLE, Texas – Lance Pevehouse scored 13 points Saturday in Sam Houston State's 74-56 victory over Nicholls State.
The Bearkats (9-7, 2-1 Southland Conference) also got 12 points from Gilberto Clavell, 11 from Drae Murray and 10 from Josten Crow.
Anatoly Bose scored 15 points for the Colonels (7-7, 1-2), but no one else reached double figures.
The battle of the conference's two top scorers fizzled somewhat. Bose was averaging 23.5 points per game and Clavell 19.3.
The Bearkats bolted to a 10-0 lead and never trailed. They led 35-25 at halftime, then scored the first 15 points after the break.
Sam Houston State shot 54.0 percent (27 of 50) and 50.0 percent (7 of 14) from 3-point range.
Nicholls State was limited to 29.2 percent (18 of 62) and 21.7 percent (5 of 23) on 3-pointers.
The Bearkats held a 44-35 rebounding edge, led by Antuan Bootle's 12.
