Kansas City, MO – The Kansas City Royals placed outfielder Lorenzo Cain on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left groin Friday.
The move is retroactive to April 11.
Cain suffered the injury in the second inning of Tuesday's 3-0 victory over the Oakland Athletics while making a running catch.
Through five games this season, the 26-year-old has a .133 batting average (2- for-15) with an RBI and a walk.
The Royals recalled outfielder Jarrod Dyson from Triple-A Omaha to replace Cain on the roster.
Dyson hit .364 with two doubles, seven runs scored and six stolen bases in seven games for Omaha this season.
