Houston, TX – The Kansas City Royals placed second baseman Chris Getz on the 15-day disabled list Monday with a lateral strain in his lower left leg.
Getz injured himself in the bottom of the first inning of Sunday's 15-inning win at St. Louis. He had been activated from the DL last Tuesday after missing time with a left ribcage contusion.
In 36 games this season, Getz is batting .290 with eight RBI.
The Royals also made moves to aid a bullpen that tossed a combined 18 1/3 innings over the weekend, recalling Louis Coleman and Tommy Hottovy from Triple-A Omaha. Pitcher Nate Adcock was optioned to Omaha.
