Boston, MA – The Boston Red Sox activated outfielder Ryan Sweeney from the 15-day disabled list prior to the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the New York Yankees.
Sweeney was placed on the DL June 17 due to left big toe inflammation. The left-handed batter entered Saturday hitting .292 with 17 doubles, 13 RBI, 19 runs scored in 52 games this season.
Boston also optioned outfielder Ryan Kalish to Triple-A Pawtucket. He hit .217 with two doubles, five RBI and seven runs scored in 18 games with the Red Sox this year.
