St. Petersburg, FL – The Tampa Bay Rays activated catcher day disabled list Friday.
Jaso last played on July 9 against the New York Yankees before being placed on the DL with a right oblique strain.
In 65 game this season for the Rays, Jaso has posted a .222 average with three home runs, 17 RBI and 18 runs scored.
In three seasons in a major league uniform -- all with Tampa Bay -- Jaso has compiled a .248 average, eight home runs and 61 RBI. The California native was drafted by the Rays in the 12th round of the 2003 draft.
To make room on the roster for Jaso, the Rays optioned catcher Robinson Chirinos to Triple-A Durham on Thursday.
Chirinos played in 20 games this season for the Rays, posting a .218 average with one home run and seven RBI.
