NEW YORK – A person with knowledge of the situation tells The Associated Press that the New York Jets have re-signed fullback Lex Hilliard to a one-year contract.
The move Wednesday comes as the Jets have lost a few of their other free agents, including running back Shonn Greene, defensive lineman Mike DeVito and safety Yeremiah Bell. Safety LaRon Landry and tight end Dustin Keller are also expected to sign elsewhere.
The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the team had not yet announced the move. The signing was first reported by ProFootballTalk.com.
Hilliard was signed in the middle of last season to replace John Conner. He finished with eight carries for 31 yards, and four catches for 23 yards and also contributed on special teams.
