It's been a dream year for Kansas State sports.

After winning conference titles in football and basketball, the Wildcats have captured a Big 12 baseball title and advanced to the super-regionals against Oregon State this weekend.

With two more victories, they'll be playing in their first College World Series.

It goes beyond that, though: High jumper Erik Kynard has a chance to become just the third three-time national champion in his event this weekend, and construction is churning on a new tennis facility, rowing center and a $75 million renovation of the football stadium.

Athletic director John Currie explained the success this way: "You have to have a lot of things in place, the coaching and the athletes and support — and then you have to get lucky, too."
