New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The NHL levied a $100,000 fine against the Los Angeles Kings for violating the terms of Slava Voynov's indefinite suspension.
Voynov took the ice with his teammates for a Tuesday morning practice session, which is not allowed under the terms of the suspension handed down on Oct. 20.
"This was clearly a mistake on our part and we accept full responsibility. It is incumbent upon us to be more vigilant in managing this situation to ensure that Slava's allowable training activities always remain separate from the team," the Kings said in a release shortly after the league's decision.
The defenseman faces one felony count of corporal injury to spouse with great bodily injury for an alleged attack on his wife at their Redondo Beach home on Oct. 19.
Voynov is only permitted to use team facilities and work with team personnel but is prohibited from taking part in team activities like private functions or practices.
