Tony Snell and Cameron Bairstow scored 15 and 14 points, respectively, and No. 15 New Mexico defeated Wyoming, 59-46, in the Mountain West Conference Tournament quarterfinals.

The Lobos (27-5), who earned the top seed and a first-round bye in the tourney, will play San Diego State in the semifinals on Friday.

Derrious Gilmore and Larry Nance Jr. scored 14 points apiece and Josh Adams added 12 for the eighth-seeded Cowboys (19-13), who defeated Nevada 85-81 in the first round on Tuesday.

New Mexico led 34-24 at halftime, but Wyoming opened up the second half with a 9-2 spurt to get within three, 36-33, with 15 minutes remaining in regulation.

However, that was as close as the Cowboys would get.

New Mexico extended its lead by as much as 15 points, 59-44, as the game came to a close. Adams made a dunk for Wyoming with five seconds left, but the game was far out of reach.

Gilmore helped keep it competitive in the first half, scoring 11 points, including three early 3-pointers.
