CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Michael Waltrip will drive the No. 55 Toyota in next week's race at Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama.
Waltrip, a two-time Daytona 500 winner, is co-owner of Michael Waltrip Racing and occasionally competes in the four restrictor-plate races on the NASCAR schedule.
Brett Moffitt had been driving the car since last month, when Brian Vickers had to go back on blood thinners to treat clots. Vickers has raced just twice this season, since Waltrip drove the Daytona 500.
Waltrip has four career wins in plate races. He has 57 previous starts at Talladega.
Aaron's, a partner of Waltrip's since 2000, will sponsor the car.
