Osaka, Japan – Toshinori Muto closed with a 2-under 69 on Sunday to win the Kansai Open Golf Championship by one shot.
Muto finished his fifth Japan Tour title at 18-under-par 266.
He opened his round at Izumigaoka Country Club with birdies on the first and fourth. After tripping to a bogey at No. 5, Muto bounced back with birdies at six and seven.
Muto birdied the 10th to move to minus-20, but he stumbled to three straight bogeys from the 13th to fall back to the field. He closed out the win in style as he birdied the last.
Hyung-Sung Kim posted a 4-under 67 on Sunday to take second at minus-17. Norio Shinozaki managed a 1-under 70 to end alone in third at 15-under-par 269.
Yuta Ikeda took fourth at minus-14 after closing with an even-par 71, while Kyung-Tae Kim was two strokes back after a final-round 66.
