BATON ROUGE, La. – Malcolm Miller scored 17 points to lead Southern University past Spring Hill 67-46 Friday night in a nonconference game.
Derick Beltran added 16 points, Jameel Grace chipped in 14 points, and both players recorded three steals for Southern (5-6).
After scoring the first four points of the game, Spring Hill scored just 10 more points the rest of the half as Southern closed the period on a 33-10 run.
Beltran and Grace scored 11 and 12 points, respectively, combining for four 3-pointers in the first half to help the Jaguars lead at halftime 33-14.
Spring Hill (2-13) got within 10 in the second half, 40-30 on Robert Gipson's 3-pointer with 14:39 remaining, but that was the closest the Badgers would get as Southern would finish the game with a 27-16 run.
Alex Looney led Spring Hill with 15 points. Gipson added 11 points and six rebounds for the Badgers.
