POUGHKEEPSKIE, N.Y. – James LaMacchia had 134 all-purpose yards and a touchdown to help Marist defeat Bucknell 14-3 on Saturday night.
LaMacchia caught a 16-yard pass from Tommy Reilly with 9:18 left in the second quarter to put the Red Foxes (1-1) ahead 7-0.
The score was set up on Kees Coughlin's interception of Bucknell's Brandon Wesley, which was returned 9 yards to the Bucknell 18-yard line.
LaMacchia had 84 yards on 11 catches and Reilly finished with 251 yards on 25 of 39 passes in Marist's first win against Bucknell (0-2) in the seven-game series.
Drew Orth pulled the Red Foxes to 7-3 on an 18-yard field goal, but the Marist offense, which managed just six first downs, couldn't get anything else going.
Wesley finished with 103 yards on 12 of 24 passes for Bucknell, which lost its 10th straight game on the road.
