HIGH POINT, N.C. – Shay Shine scored 18 points and High Point held off a Radford rally to take a 72-70 victory on Saturday night.
The Panthers (9-13, 6-7 Big South Conference), who led by 20 points in the first half and 15 with 14:12 to go, saw the Highlanders cut it to 71-70 with 6 seconds left on a Blake Smith 3-pointer.
High Point's Du'Vaughn Maxwell hit the second of two free throws with 6 seconds to go and Smith missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer.
The Panthers, who have won three in a row, led 32-12 with 5:38 to go before halftime.
With High Point ahead 48-33, Radford (5-18, 2-11) went on an 11-0 run to get within four. The Panthers built an 11-point lead, but the Highlanders cut it to three on three occasions, the last at 70-67 with 18 seconds to go.
Tehran Cox hit 1 of 2 free throws, then Smith hit his 3 to finish with 19 points.
Nick Barbour added 14 for High Point.
