HARTFORD, Conn. – Morgan Sabia scored 27 points and grabbed 17 rebounds to lead Hartford over St. Francis (N.Y.) 82-74 on Monday night.
Milton Burton added 22 points for the Hawks (3-10), who outrebounded St. Francis 42-30 and snapped a five-game losing skid.
Hartford led 26-24 at halftime, and made 13 of 18 from the field in the second half (72.2 percent). The Hawks opened the second half on a 7-1 run, capped by Burton's 3 for a 32-25 lead with 18:47 left.
Hartford extended its lead to 13, 50-37, a little over six minutes later. But the Terriers (7-6) brought it to 53-50 on Akeem Bennett's 3-pointer with 8:02 left. The Hawks then pulled away for good on a 12-4 run.
Stefan Perunicic scored 18 points for St. Francis and Bennett added 16. Adam Chmielewski had a double-double for the Terriers with 13 points and 11 rebounds and Ricky Cadell chipped in 10 points.
