NORFOLK, Va. – Michael Hale III scored 29 points and Kannon Burrage added 20 to lead Texas San Antonio to a 79-70 victory against Old Dominion on Sunday.
Hale made four of his seven 3-point shots, and the Roadrunners (2-1) knocked down 12 of 26 from beyond the arc. Jeromie Hill chipped in 14 points for Texas San Antonio. As a team, the Roadrunners shot 50 percent (27 of 54) from the field.
Aaron Bacote led Old Dominion (1-2) with 15 points, Dimitri Batten scored 11, and Richard Ross and Donte Hill had 10 apiece.
The Monarchs didn't shoot nearly as well as their opponent, managing only 23 of 65 from the field and 5 for 17 on 3-pointers.
Old Dominion closed the lead to 75-70 on Keenan Palmore's layup with 28 seconds left, but Hale and Burrage made two free throws each to seal the victory.
