SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Jerron Granberry scored 16 points and North Florida pulled away from South Carolina-Upstate early in the second half for a 63-55 victory Friday night, sweeping the season series.
The Ospreys (10-16, 7-8 Atlantic Sun Conference) took a 25-24 halftime lead on a 3-pointer by Jimmy Williams, then opened the second half with a 15-4 run.
The Spartans (4-21, 3-12) got within four points, at 53-49 with 2:34 to play, but could get no closer. North Florida made 10 of 12 free throws down the stretch, with Granberry hitting 7 of 8, to snap a two-game losing streak.
Andres Diaz added 13 points and David Jeune had 10 rebounds for the Ospreys, who also defeated USC Upstate 65-59 on Jan. 15.
Mezie Uzochukwu scored 16 points on 8-of-11 shooting for the Spartans, who have lost 15 of their past 17 games. Torrey Craig had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
