NEW YORK (Reuters) - The NFL has fined New York Giants running back Brandon Jacobs $10,000 for tossing his helmet into the crowd during Sunday's game at Indianapolis.
Jacobs, who cut a frustrated figure in the Giants' 38-14 loss to the Colts, said he had tried to throw his helmet on the sidelines but it had accidentally landed in the crowd.
Jacobs said he also met with the Giants General Manager Jerry Reese and coach Tom Coughlin on Monday and refuted reports he had demanded a trade.
Jacobs has been unhappy with his reduced role behind starter Ahmad Bradshaw, and has rushed for only 52 yards in the opening two games of the season.
