BOSTON – David Freese and the St. Louis Cardinals are exploring Fenway Park as they get ready to start the World Series.
Pitcher Lance Lynn and a couple of teammates went inside the left-field wall to check out the Green Monster on Tuesday, a day before the Cardinals and Boston Red Sox play Game 1.
Cardinals manager Mike Matheny announced that Allen Craig will be on the roster. The cleanup man hasn't played since early September because of a sprained left foot.
Craig will be the designated hitter in the opener when Adam Wainwright pitches for the Cardinals against Jon Lester. Weather could be a factor, with temperatures in the low 40s and rain in the forecast.
This is the fourth time the Cardinals and Red Sox have met in the World Series, starting in 1946 when Stan Musial and St. Louis beat Ted Williams and Boston.
