ANKARA, Turkey – Fenerbahce says it will appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport after its removal from the Champions League by the Turkish Football Federation over a match-fixing scandal.
Fenerbahce said in a statement Monday that it was holding talks with two lawyers who would represent the club at CAS. The announcement comes days after the Turkish federation rejected league champion Fenerbahce's request to be relegated from the Turkish top division because of the scandal.
More than 30 people, including Fenerbahce President Aziz Yildirim, have been arrested in the ongoing match-fixing investigation that allegedly involved 19 games last season.
