Fabricio Werdum will put his heavyweight title on the line against former champion Cain Velasquez in the main event of UFC 196 on Feb. 6 in Las Vegas.
The new fight was confirmed on "UFC Tonight" on Wednesday.
Werdum defeated Velasquez earlier this year by guillotine choke to claim the belt while becoming UFC champion for the first time in his career.
The victory was considered an upset by many, especially with Velasquez's standing as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the sport before falling to Werdum.
Rather than match each of them up with different opponents, the UFC opted to make an immediate rematch between Werdum and Velasquez and now the fight has a date.
Originally the bout was expected to take place a month later at UFC 196 scheduled in Brazil, but ultimately the heavyweight title fight was shifted to the Super Bowl weekend card instead.
Werdum will look to cement himself as one of the greatest heavyweights of all time with a second win over Velasquez in February.
On the flipside, Velasquez will attempt to win the heavyweight title for the third time after previously defeating Brock Lesnar and Junior dos Santos to win the gold.
UFC 196 goes down Feb. 6 with more bouts to be announced in the coming weeks.
