CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Chris Douglas-Roberts has gone from being out of the NBA at this time a year ago to being a pivotal role player for the Charlotte Bobcats entering the Eastern Conference playoffs.
That's a testament to the perseverance of the small forward.
Douglas-Roberts was teetering on the brink of being out of the NBA for good last year when the Dallas Mavericks cut him after he played in just six games. He spent the rest of the season unemployed and looking for work.
But he didn't get any calls.
That left Douglas-Roberts "really messed up" and "depressed."
Douglas-Roberts says "There were days where I just wanted to be in the room all day and sleep. I didn't want to talk to anyone. I lost my mind a couple of times. Honestly."
