ELON, N.C. – Drew Spradlin scored 28 points and Elon came back from a double-digit, first-half deficit to defeat Davidson 77-70 on Thursday night.
Elon (9-10, 3-5 Southern Conference) trailed by 11 when Clint Mann scored on a layup for Davidson (8-11, 2-6) with 5:11 left in the first half, making it 32-21. The Phoenix closed to within three by halftime (36-33)
The Wildcats rebuilt their lead to nine points, but their 37.5-percent, second-half shooting (12 of 32) could not maintain it. The Phoenix tied the score three times in the final 20 minutes before Brett Ervin's 3-pointer with 6:12 left put them ahead to stay.
Chris Long added 16 points for Elon, which snapped a two-game losing streak. Lucas Troutman contributed 11.
Mann's 18 points led Davidson, which lost its third in a row. Nik Cochran added 11 while Jake Cohen and J.P. Kuhlman each had 10.
