Delray Beach, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - No. 7 seed Marin Cilic of Croatia outlasted fourth-seeded South African Kevin Anderson in the title match at the Delray Beach Open tennis event.
Cilic beat Anderson by a 7-6 (8-6), 6-7 (7-9), 6-4 margin in a match that lasted just over three hours.
The 25-year-old Cilic now has 11 career titles, including one in Zagreb earlier this month.
"It feels awesome, especially after waiting for a long time last night and finishing after 1 a.m. Then, today to come back and win it, I'm really happy with this victory," Cilic said.
Anderson was trying for his third career title.
Cilic improved to 4-1 all-time against the 27-year-old Anderson.
Cilic took home $81,500 with the victory, while Anderson pocketed $49,920.
