FRISCO, Texas (AP) — Brek Shea scored twice within a 2-minute span in the second half to lift FC Dallas to a 2-0 win over San Jose on Saturday night.
Shea's first goal in the 58th minute was started by a volley from Heath Pearce to David Ferreira, who dribbled around Chris Wondolowski and then tapped a pass from the goal line to Shea, who scored on a left-footed one-timer from the top of the goalie's box.
Shea added another goal in the 60th minute when he raced past Earthquakes defender Chris Leitch and fired a right-footed shot into an empty net from 12 yards away.
FC Dallas (3-2-6) scored two goals in a game for the first time in seven games. San Jose (5-4-2) is winless in its last six matches against Dallas dating back to September 3, 2005. Kevin Hartman finished with two saves for his third shutout of the season.
FC Dallas came close to scoring twice within the final minutes of the first half. Jeff Cunningham had a clear shot from the top of the goalie's box in the 43rd minute but pushed his shot over the crossbar. Less than a minute later, Ferreira's header from 6 yards away went wide left.
