MOBILE, Alabama (Reuters) - Auburn's Nick Fairley, The Lombardi Award winner as the nation's best college lineman, declared himself eligible for the 2011 NFL Draft.
Fairley made the announcement from his former high school, Williamson High School in Mobile.
The junior defensive tackle is the second member of the undefeated BCS National Champion team to enter the draft in as many days following Heisman Trophy winner Cam Newton.
"I was thinking, 'What more could I accomplish my senior year?'" Fairley said.
After starting just two games in 2009 Fairley had a dominant season in 2010, including a single-season school record 11.5 sacks.
