Laugh it up, fuzz-beetle. Scientists have named a new species of beetle after Chewbacca, the furry Star Wars character.
The flightless beetle was found on an island in Papua New Guinea, and is one of four new species discovered there. It measures about a tenth of an inch long.

“This species has dense scales on the head and the legs, which reminds the authors of Chewbacca’s dense fur,” the authors explained in a recent paper announcing their results in the journal ZooKeys.
The scientists collected the specimens during a 2014 expedition. The new beetle’s full scientific name is Trigonopterus chewbacca.
