A contentious interview between Fox News Channel’s Megyn Kelly and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich burned up the Internet Wednesday morning.

Gingrich, a surrogate for GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump, took offense when Kelly, host of “The Kelly File,” raised accusations from multiple women that Trump had groped them in the past.

“If Trump is a sexual predator, that is —,“ Kelly began.

Gingrich cut her off, saying “He's not a sexual predator. You can’t say that. You cannot defend that statement.”

The interview quickly erupted into a fiery back-and-forth with Kelly, who has previously been critical of Trump’s statements regarding women, reminding Gingrich that she was not taking a position but simply raising an important issue.

Gingrich accused Kelly of being "fascinated with sex" instead of exploring policy issues, a charge Kelly rejected.

She responded: "You know what, Mr. Speaker, I'm not fascinated by sex, but I am fascinated by the protection of women, and understanding what we're getting in the Oval Office."

Kelly wrapped up the interview by telling Gingrich to spend some time on his “anger issues.”
