In 2006, tennis legend Chris Evert divorced her husband of 18 years, former Olympic skier Andy Mill. During an interview Tuesday, she hinted that menopause may have played a role in the ending of their relationship.
Lance Armstrong interviewed the ESPN tennis analyst for The Forward Podcast, People.com reported.
"I don't know, I was going through menopausal stuff that doesn't get talked about enough – what women go through, you know, at 50ish,” Evert, 61, said.
Evert married pro golfer Greg Norman two years later, who was a friend of Mill’s. The couple split after 15 months.
Menopause occurs in most women between ages 40 and 58 and results in lower levels of estrogen and other hormones, according to The North American Menopause Society. Each woman experiences different changes, but they may include hot flashes, night sweats and drying and thinning of vaginal tissues.
