Georgia boy robbed of ability to walk asks for birthday cards

A 9-year-old Georgia boy isn’t asking for toys ahead of his first double-digit birthday. Instead, he’s asking for birthday cards.

Chase Howard of Marietta, Georgia, has a rare form of muscular dystrophy, Duchenne muscular dystrophy, and lost mobility in his legs, Fox 5 Atlanta reported. The diagnosis affects less than 200,000 in the United States each year. There is no cure for the DMD and the life expectancy is, on average, 25, the news channel reported.

For his birthday on September 19, Howard, who is restricted to a wheelchair, just wants birthday cards.

"It would make me feel special if people sent me cards," Howard told Fox 5.

According to the news channel, Howard said when he gets to heaven, he’ll get new legs.
