Food is a great way to bridge divides, at least that's what Scott Walker hopes.

The Wisconsin governor is laying out a spread of beer, brats and other speciality food items from the Badger State for his so-called "beer and brat summit" on Tuesday.

One week after the Republican governor fought off a Democratic-led attempt to recall him from office, Walker is trying to mend fences by inviting state lawmakers from both parties over for a big barbecue.

“Food is always a good starting place, and beer is always a good starting place,” Republican consultant Brandon Scholz told the Associated Press.  Scholz now heads the Wisconsin Grocers Association, which is handling food for the event.

Also Sprecher Brewery has created a special label to mark the “beer and brat summit,” which features an American flag with an inset map of Wisconsin with the words “Moving Wisconsin Forward” and the June 12, 2012, summit date.
