Dunkin’ Donuts worker caught dropping donuts, putting them out for sale

Dunkin’ Donuts has responded to a video taken at a Massachusetts store location that shows a worker dropping a tray of pastries on the floor, picking up them up and putting them out for service.

The video, which was originally recorded and posted in November by former employee Liam Flaherty, is now going viral with over 100,000 views on Facebook. Flaherty recorded surveillance footage on his cellphone.

“Here's the manager at Dunkin Donuts in Mendon dropping an entire tray of fresh donuts on the disease ridden ground and trying to hide them so she could still serve them!! AND SHE DID SERVE THEM,” wrote Flaherty on June 22.

Flaherty says that he brought the issue to the attention of the franchise owners and store management but the higher-ups “dismissed it as no big deal," according to MassLive.

Though the clip does fast forward through a portion of the surveillance footage, leading many online to question the clip’s authenticity, Dunkin’ Donuts confirmed the video shows a real incident that occurred in a Mendon, Mass. store location in a statement to CBS Boston. A spokesperson said the matter was investigated and discussed with the employee seen in the clip:

“We are aware of the video and we take matters like this very seriously. The actions seen in the video at a franchised Dunkin’ Donuts restaurant are absolutely inconsistent with our strict food safety standards and requirements. According to the franchisee, upon hearing of this incident in November 2015, he investigated the matter and met with the employee to discuss the fact that the donuts should have been immediately disposed of in keeping with our standards.”
