Selena Gomez served papers on case involving the Biebs

Selena Gomez received an unexpected surprise when she received legal documents upon exiting a convenience store in Los Angeles earlier this week.

According to Us magazine the “Come & Get It” singer was summoned to testify in a case involving her on-again, off-again boyfriend Justin Bieber who allegedly assaulted a photographer at the Calabasas Commons in May 2012 while the lovebirds were on a date. The pair left before police arrived.

"The victim complained of pain and requested medical attention. Personnel from the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded. The victim requested a criminal report be taken regarding the incident and an allegation of misdemeanor Battery report was taken at the scene,” read a statement from the Malibu-Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station at the time of the incident.

Gomez and Bieber seem to be going through an on-again phase right now. They were spotted at a Lone Star Starbucks following Bieber’s deposition in Miami and earlier this month the "Boyfriend" singer posted a sexy video of the two doing some dirty dancing to John Legend’s “Ordinary People.”
