It was just a few weeks ago that “L.A. Ink” star Kat Von D announced she was dating disgraced “West Coast Choppers” founder Jesse James following his very public divorce from Oscar-winner Sandra Bullock this summer. But it seems the new couple isn’t wasting any time, as Von D confirmed to Pop Tarts that she has already been to Austin, Texas with James, and met his children, Chandler, 15, Jesse Jr., 12, and Sunny, 6.

And what’s more, James was preparing to meet Von D’s father for the first time just a few moments after she spoke to us at the opening of her West Hollywood “Wonderland” gallery last Thursday – with the “L.A Ink” cameras rolling, of course.

I love my family, so of course it's important to me that my family embraces my loved ones,” a gushing Von D said in excited anticipation about the meeting.

But despite the quick pace of their romance, Von D tells us the two actually met years ago and it was through their friendship that they grew closer.

"It was something that was spontaneous and it definitely wasn't planned but in retrospect it is just pretty cool to look back,” she said. “I'm just so proud of him on so many different levels, seeing him grow from when I was 22. It's pretty cool.”

And although James’s public profile was severely scarred this year after having his string of extramarital affairs was exposed, Von D still credits him for inspiring her to be a better person.

"He just inspires me to wake up every day and do my best,” she said.

On that note, the tattooed star doesn’t care what the media, or anyone else for that matter, has to say about her relationship.

"I learned a long time ago, even before the tattoo show, what other people think really doesn't matter,” Von D added. “In the big picture, all that doesn't matter. I just want to lead by example and do my best.”

Throughout the party, we overheard Von D referring to James as “babe,” and the couple couldn’t keep their hands (or lips) off one another as they meandered through the gallery, which was full of images of Von D’s former flame Nikki Sixx.

Meanwhile, Sixx expressed some remorse to TMZ about his former flame’s hot new romance.

“You know it’s hard when you (were) just told by someone you dated for two-and-a-half years that you’re the love of their life and then they move on so quickly,” he said. “But you know there’s a lesson in all this and I’ve always thought she was an amazing girl and I wish her nothing but the best.”
