Ryan Seacrest picked an interesting accessory to wear to the 2019 Golden Globes: a Time’s Up bracelet.
The “Live With Kelly and Ryan” co-host showed off his bracelet on the one year anniversary of the organization’s creation after a stylist filed a police report with the LAPD about him, claiming he sexually harassed her. Suzie Hardy first came forward to Variety, claiming she endured abuse for years working as Seacrest’s stylist at the E! network.
She told Variety Seacrest hugged her more than 10 times while only wearing underwear. She also claims he would push her head into his crotch while she tied her shoes. Seacrest issued a response, denying the claims and stating a third-party investigation cleared his name; however, Hardy later wrote in a guest column for The Hollywood Reporter that E!’s parent company, NBCUniversal, didn’t interview key players.
“NBC did not interview 10 of the witnesses I provided, including my therapist and my boyfriend at the time,” she wrote.
E! stood by its investigation, saying in a statement that its investigation was “extremely comprehensive and thorough.”
Viewers on social media immediately called out the E! red carpet host.
“Ryan Seacrest wearing a Time’s Up wristband should cause him to burst into flames like a sinner in church,” wrote one Twitter user.
“Ryan Seacrest is wearing? A Time’s Up bracelet? While everyone just kinda ignores that he was one of the accused men last year? SURE OK,” commented another.
“What gives Ryan Seacrest the ego to wear a #TimesUp bracelet? Does he think we forgot?” tweeted another one. “My dude, the time for you is not today.”
When reached for comment, NBCUniversal told Page Six, “This is old news from nearly a year ago. It’s business as usual for all of us.”
During last year’s Oscars red carpet, actress Taraji P. Henson shaded Seacrest about the accusations against him.
“The universe has a way of taking care of good people,” Henson said to Seacrest, touching his chin. “Know what I mean?”
