Rupert Grint dishes on his relationship with his 'Harry Potter' castmates, new show 'Snatch'

LOS ANGELES – Rupert Grint, the lovable Ron Weasley from "Harry Potter," takes on a new role as executive producer and the posh character Charlie Cavendish in the new scripted Crackle series, "Snatch."

”It was really exciting," he told Fox News at the premiere in Los Angeles on Thursday. "I’ve never done anything like this … I mean I didn’t take a huge role in the producing, but it was kind of [a] more exploratory kind of thing.”

He said producing the TV show based on the 2000 film by the same name showed him a “different perspective.”

“And I learned a lot, and it’s definitely something I would like to do more of,” he revealed. “But it was just great to be a part of, I’m a huge fan of the original film. And such a great cast, and yeah, it was great fun."

For "Harry Potter" fans, Grint is synonymous with his character Ron Weasley, having starred in the “Harry Potter” film franchise from 2001 to 2011. The series remains a big part of Grint’s life, and he is still in close contact with his Potter castmates.

In fact, Grint said one of his Potter pals was in the audience at Thursday’s premiere.

“… I do, really do [stay in touch]," he said. "We shared such a unique experience together, from such a young age. We always have that bond. I think Bonnie [Wright, who played Ginny Weasley] is here. So yeah, we always kind of support each other, it’s great.”

Earlier this week, Emma Watson revealed the cast has a group chat and Grint smiled when asked about it.

“There is," he said. "It was such a crazy, crazy experience. That only us really, really know."

Crackle's "Snatch" focuses on a group of twenty-something, up and coming hustlers who stumble upon a truck load of stolen gold bullion and are suddenly thrust into the high-stakes world of organized crime.

Ed Westwick, Dougray Scott, Lucien Laviscount, and Luke Pasqualino also star in the series. "Snatch" is streaming on Crackle now.
