Reese Witherspoon and her husband Jim Toth are getting divorced.
The pair announced the news Friday on Instagram, just days before their 12-year wedding anniversary.
"We have some personal news to share... It is with a great deal of care and consideration that we have made the difficult decision to divorce," they said. "We have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and are moving forward with deep love, kindness and mutual respect for everything we have created together."
"Our biggest priority is our son and our entire family as we navigate this next chapter," they added. "These matters are never easy and are extremely personal. We truly appreciate everyone's respect for our family's privacy at this time."

Witherspoon and Toth married in 2011. They share one son together, 10-year-old Tennessee, and were approaching their 12th wedding anniversary on Sunday.
A source told People magazine that the couple are "best of friends" as they navigate their "amicable divorce."
"This is such an amicable decision," the source told the outlet. "They are so committed to co-parenting together. They are invested in their whole family and making this as smooth as possible for everyone."
Witherspoon also shares two children with ex Ryan Phillippe: daughter Ava, 23, and son Deacon, 19.
Toth and Witherspoon wed on the "Legally Blonde" star's ranch in Ojai, California. The couple celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary in March 2021.
Witherspoon took to Instagram at the time and wrote, "Celebrating 10 years of marriage to my sweet hubby," in the caption of her post, which featured a picture of the two on their wedding day.
"What a special day with all of our dear friends. Looking back, I can't believe it has gone so quickly!" she continued. "I guess that’s how it goes with 3 kids, Big LOVE, lots of laughing, non-stop travel, so many dogs, and fun adventures... figuring out this crazy world together."
"Here’s to many more days in the sun! I [heart emoji] you, JT," Witherspoon concluded.
The divorce announcement seemingly comes as a surprise to fans of the "Big Little Lies" star, who celebrated her 47th birthday on Wednesday.
"Thank you for all my wonderful, loving, heartfelt birthday wishes," she wrote on Instagram in a slideshow of images with her French Bulldog. "Feeling very grateful for all the LOVE in my life!"
The "Sweet Home Alabama" star kicked off the 2023 New Year with an Instagram photo of her, Toth, and their son all together. However, one of the last times Witherspoon and Toth were publicly pictured at an event was at a Vanity Fair Oscars party in 2020.

The couple got engaged in December 2010, just 10 months after they had revealed they were in a relationship, according to "Entertainment Tonight." In a 2012 interview, Witherspoon opened up about meeting Toth, who she said saved her from a "really drunk guy" at a party.
"Jim came over and said, 'Please excuse my friend. He's just broken up with someone,'" she told Elle magazine. "Jim was a really good friend, pulling him out of that situation. That's just kind of who he is, a really good person."
A year later, in April 2013, Witherspoon and Toth faced legal trouble.
Witherspoon was arrested on a municipal charge of disorderly conduct after a state trooper said she wouldn't stay in the car while her husband, Toth, was given a field sobriety test.
The officer wrote in his report at the time: "Mrs. Witherspoon asked, 'Do you know my name?' I answered, 'No, I don’t need to know your name.' I then added, 'right now.' Mrs. Witherspoon stated, 'You’re about to find out who I am.'"
"Mrs. Witherspoon also stated, 'You are going to be on national news,'" the officer's report stated. "I advised Mrs. Witherspoon that was fine."

In 2020, Witherspoon reflected on the arrest, admitting she did "something really stupid."
"It was so embarrassing and dumb," the "Little Fires Everywhere" actress told Jameela Jamil on her "I Weigh" podcast. "But, you know what — [it] turns out I breathe air. I bleed the same way. I make dumb decisions. I make great decisions. I’m just a human being."
