Meghan Markle has been estranged from her father and his family since before the royal wedding, but that may finally change.
A source close to the Duchess of Sussex revealed that Markle plans to reconcile with her father, Thomas, and half-sister Samantha, after the birth of her and Prince Harry's royal baby this spring.
However, the pal also noted that Meghan, 37, hopes her family will finally stop criticizing her.

"Meghan understands the pressures of intense media scrutiny and she is saddened by what her family have had to endure," the insider told The Daily Mail. "She plans to extend an olive branch to the family and invite them to visit after the baby is born – her sister [Samantha] included. Meghan hopes and prays that the baby will bring her family back together."

The source also took some issue with Meghan's family complaining that she's abandoned them when she became a royal, noting she's always been busy since becoming an actress.

"Meghan’s family is well aware that she has always been busy and have always supported her efforts in the past, despite it leaving her little time to spend with them," the source said. "Her royal duties have kept her incredibly busy and she takes her new responsibilities very seriously."

Despite previously begging Prince Harry to cancel the royal wedding to Meghan, last month, Meghan's half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., told press, "A lot of the distance [in the family] happened between Meghan when she went to Toronto and her first big break in TV, which was 'Suits,' and it turned out to be a big hit in the USA ... [she] turned into a little Hollywood starlet [who was] focused on her career so much."

"I get it," he added. "I get being in that world because once you’re down that path you’ll do anything it takes to be successful so that had a lot to do with being distant from her whole family."
Samantha has been much less diplomatic. Her most recent rant came after Meghan's star-studded baby shower in the Big Apple, saying Meghan "doesn't have a heart."

Meghan's relationship with her father began to crumble when he missed her wedding to Prince Harry last May, reportedly to undergo heart surgery, after he'd been busted staging a paparazzi photoshoot ahead of the big day — allegedly at Samantha's behest.

Meghan wrote Thomas a five-page letter, which he revealed to press after her friends gave anonymous interviews to People in the Duchess' defense.
Meghan and Harry's baby is reportedly due in late April.
Kensington Palace declined to comment.
